Here are the best do's,don'ts and great tips for using Dry Shampoo.

Dry Shampoo is known for helping extend your blow out, but read on for many more uses~

1. During this humid weather, spraying it under your bangs keeps them from sticking to your forehead.
2. Before backcombing, add some for extra staying power, and to lock in the tease.
3. Beachy waves are trending right now, and dry shampoo can keep the curls from clumping.  Spray it in after curling, and the starch coats your hair to help it look piece-y.
4. It will give your hair more volume.  Spray it concentrating on the roots.  Flip hair over and blow it for a minute. Then, spray it all over, and use your hands to scrunch it..
5. It adds a bit of hold, but can still be touchable, unlike hairspray.
6. Freshly shampooed hair can be too slick for updos and braids.  Dry shampoo gives it more texture to work with.
7. To keep bobby pins from slipping or moving out of your hair, spray them to give them a bit of grip.
8. Some unusual uses for it are to spray it in smelly, sweaty shoes after a work out, and to use it as a deodorant in a pinch!

Here are the do's and dont's:
Shake the can to be sure everything inside is evenly distributed.
There is a good reason its called dry shampoo-- so dont spray it on wet hair!
Hold it 6-8 inches away from your hair.  Otherwise you might end up with "white hair"!
Keep the can moving starting near your scalp and finish down the hair.
If you do end up with too much in one spot, hit it with a blow dryer.

This product has so many uses and is really indispensable in your arsenal of products

The best shampooing and conditioning tips

Shampooing and conditioning seem pretty straightforward, but read on for some surprising tips!
When you shampoo, it's important to only use the pads of your fingers.  Never use your nails!  This irritates your scalp and can cause flakes, and even hair loss :(  Your fingertips will massage your scalp to keep it healthy and stimulate hair growth by promoting circulation of blood.  Although rubbing it yourself never feels as good as when someone else does it lol!

Make sure to really wet your hair, this is crucial to getting the shampoo on all of your hair.  If you have an oily scalp, don't think that vigorously rubbing your scalp is the answer.  Quite the opposite!  All that rubbing will actually stimulate the oil glands to produce more oil.

Another no-no is to shampoo the ends.  Focus on your scalp where the oil is produced.  The ends are already prone to dryness, no need to scrub them.  The shampoo will rinse down the ends.

Shampooing with hard water can make it dry.  Using a clarifying shampoo 2-3 times a month will help with that, and also build up from products.

One reason your hair feels so clean when you leave the salon, is that it gets thoroughly rinsed.  We spend time moving the hose around the entire scalp.  When you are in the shower, the water hits the top of your scalp, not underneath, leaving a residue on your hair.  Simply part your hair and pull it forward, tip your head down, and get the entire back rinsed.

Once you've rinsed, apply your conditioner and work it through.  This is a step usually rushed, and conditioner doesn't work if it doesn't come in contact with each and every one of your hairs :)  You want to apply it about 3 inches from your scalp to avoid flat hair.  Then take your shower, shave your legs etc. so that your conditioner is left on 3-5 minutes. Rinse.

And now you are all done........until tomorrow, that is :)

The best blow drying tips for your hair

My best tips for healthy blow drying

First always make sure your dryer vents are clean!  If they are dirty and clogged up, it will be harder to get the job done.

  • If you start drying your hair with it dripping wet, no wonder it takes forever!  Just turban wrap it up, and do your makeup.  Let the dog out.  Read my blog ;)  Let the towel do most of the work.  Never, ever rub your hair with the towel.  The friction causes frizziness and breakage.  No bueno!
  • Wet hair is fragile hair, so take your time when combing out tangles.  Spray in a detangler and use a wide-tooth pick or brush, and work from the bottom up.  DO NOT rush this part, or this is where split ends are born.  Hair that is split in half will create more tangles!
  • For volume, apply mousse or root lifting spray.  For a sleek finish use a leave in serum.  Finally, always finish with heat protectant.  It coats the hair with a protective shield from the heat of blow drying, curling and flat ironing.
  • Now, onto the blow drying!!  Keep your dryer an arms length away from your hair.  I always tell my clients that I will know by the size of their biceps if they have been following this advice :)  If the dryer feels hot on your hands, it is TOO HOT for your hair!
  • Aim the airflow down the hairshaft.  This will make the cuticles lie flat, and ultimately make your hair look smoother and shinier.  Don't hold the nozzle of the blow dryer in the same place for more than 5 seconds-move it, move it, move it lol constantly, to prevent burning your hair.
  • If you have bangs, tackle them first.  If you have any cowlicks, which most people do, it will be impossible to get them out once they start drying on their own.  Rotten devils!!
  • Next, clip your hair into 4 sections, 2 in front and 2 in back.  Although this step seems like it takes extra time, it actually saves time so that you don't keep drying the same sections.  It also makes it sooooo much easier to use your round brush.  You can also use this same sectioning when you flat iron.
  • Now you can apply your finishing products and look FABULOUS DARLING!!!
